Fenix is a fashionable and popular oasis in the upmarket Etiler neighborhood. Located in the former venue of GQ Restaurant, the restaurant has been totally revamped with high ceilings, increasing the sense of space, and its large potted palm trees give it a tropical vibe while the Moroccan-style tiles add to the exotic, colonial style. With one of the most beautiful bars in the city, decked out in the signature Havana style, Fenix attracts the upscale Istanbul party crowd. In the outdoor terrace area, fruit trees hang heavy with their crop in the summer whilst more large palms and vines climb up the arched pillars.
The menu at Fenix is constantly updated with modern flavors from Asian-fusion and international cuisine. Dishes such as the white cabbage salad and roasted baby chicken with mixed vegetables stand out, but the choices are seemingly endless from the separate lunch, dinner, and sushi menus. More delicious, well-crafted treats are found on the dessert menu, including the innovative havuçlu kup (carrot cake, crumble, carrot sauce, and cinnamon ice cream) which typifies the flair of all the food here.
The covered kitchen area is adorned by a beautiful cheetah photograph recreated from the work of famous American photographer Peter Beard, whose other works are open for perusal in his book, which is available at the venue. The service staff is extremely well trained and knowledgeable about all aspects of the food and bar offerings. An extensive wine menu offers some of the finest vintages and champagnes from across Turkey and around the world, whilst the full bar offers long and short drinks as well as delicious cocktails to suit the exotic surroundings.
If you are looking for a quiet meal, head to Fenix during the lunch service or an evening early in the week. But if you're in the mood for partying, make sure you book well in advance and join the upscale crowds who flock here at the weekends to enjoy themselves in this lively and lavish venue, with DJs playing music to keep revellers dancing well into the early hours.
