Fey: A Crash Course in Style

Talya Arditi / June 08, 2012

Harmony and balance are the keys to everything in life. Including a person’s sense of style.

Fey is Nişantaşı’s newest clothing store that brings balance and harmony to a whole new level. Owned by Turkish Marie Claire’s long-time General Manager and Publishing Director Fatoş Yalın, Fey is the worldly manifestation of Fatoş’s sense of style and perspective on life. Simply chic is what Fatoş is about. Pairing a jean shirt with pearls and capri pants and making it all work is what she does best. And her newly-opened store Fey is kind of like her personal wardrobe, filled only with pieces that she likes and she’d like to wear.

That’s why the store feels more like a large-wardrobe-turned-showroom rather than an impersonal store. Fatoş’s touches are evident in each corner of the store, from the spacious organization of the clothes on the rack to the colorful scarves wrapped around a leather bag’s handle. If you look closely, all her style secrets are revealed on the shelves, in the racks. In between the lines.

The collection here is timeless, and is a mix of Fatoş’s creations, vintage pieces, and Turkish designers’ clothes. Her line includes leather bags, colorful velvet espadrilles, leather iphone/ipad cases, silk shirts, cashmere tops, cotton shirts, and cotton bikinis. Arzu Kaprol, Dilek Hanif, Nihan Peker, and Aslı Filinta are among the Turkish designers whose pieces are found here. In addition, you’ll find some extraordinary vintage pieces, including jewelry, tops, and dresses. A few non-clothing items are sold here as well, like Taschen books, ceramic bowls by Tulya Madra, small sculptural objects and furniture pieces by Sibel Balık, and ballerina flats by Old Sandal. A limited men’s section, which will be expanded in winter, is also available.

In this simple showroom, it’s the clothes that speak. So listen closely as some soft jazz tickles your ears.
