The proof of success for an Istanbul nightlife spot is the amount of people that are standing outside in the street of the actual venue, smoking, drinking, and discussing something or other late into the night. We are not a people that like to dance, but rather converse, and perhaps mildly appreciate the music with a few sudden movements that grow in duration as the night moves into the a.m. regions.
There was a large crowd that assembled outside the doors of Babylon Lounge, which had its opening party last week. However, the actual spectacle was inside where an illustration by Dutch artist Teo Skaffa depicts the bright colors of a feline god-like vision. To accommodate that visual spectacle the DJ played a successful series that seemed to have been taken off our own playlist, especially when ‘Hearts on Fire’ by Cut Copy came on, we abandoned our Turkish demeanor and danced away in the small area by the DJ booth with a few admiring eyes looking on from the bar and the few couches set by the window.
The events at Babylon Lounge will continue now that it has made its return to the Asmalımescit nights. More than just a spot to hang out before and after concerts at Babylon, the lounge will have a regular rotation of DJs and a Happy Hour until 9pm with 25% off drinks as well as events such as Support Vinyl Tuesdays where only vinyls will be played. Keep up with our social media channels as well as our Agenda for the further details (including an oncoming and brand new cocktail menu). Jurnal Sokak No.4 , Asmalımescit; P: (0212) 245 38 00
