Functionality and Precision Take Shape at 333km Design Studio

Feride Yalav / September 25, 2012

The carpenters bench, or hobelbank as it is called in German, in the back of the 333km design studio in Karaköy was made by the German company Steiner in 1859. As if it was made just yesterday, the handle turns smoothly as the wooden clamp moves at the most precise angle without a millimeter of error.

If there is any object that defines this design studio started by interior architect Deniz Duru, it is the timeless precision of the Steiner. Acting as a workshop, research and development department, and showroom, 333km’s distinct style revolves largely on a natural wood demeanor with an air of minimalistic modernity and functionality.

Among the unique products are such items as the lacquer and solid wood elliptical coffee table; the walnut veneer, lacquer, and glass bar; and the Ottoman made from a mixture of walnut over plywood among many others. One of our favorites is the Dining Seat ‘Nordic’ made of wood and natural leather covering, that stands out in the showroom with its almost futuristic charms.

All items are made to order and are open to adjustments according to the needs of the customer. All designs can be viewed on the webpage from which point direct contact can be established while the production phase can be monitored for a thorough sense of custom-made specialty and of course precision.
