Casual Drinks at Köşe in Asmalımescit

Feride Yalav / August 31, 2012

Summer’s almost gone and with it the amenable option of sitting outside without a few extra layers of clothing is slowly coming to an end. However, the Asmalımescit culture demands an entirely outdoor experience in terms of its nightlife, with a lot of people longing for the days when the outside tables made it hard to walk through the crowded streets.

Now that the tables are gone, people either stand or make their way to less conspicuous spaces like Köşe, where a sign by the door that advertises its garden makes it entirely enticing. Inside a central bar faces large windows that are all open, allowing young people to sit in the windowsill and converse while sipping their drinks. In the back, past the open kitchen, a garden with plenty of tables, plenty of people converse and drink underneath the hanging limbs of a tree and a few wandering cats watch on from various hideouts atop of the walls.

Apart from the bar, where cocktails, beer, and various liquor on the rocks are all available, a menu of fast food items, such as schnitzel or sausage and fries, are available for a late-night snack. Make sure to go with someone who likes to talk because the relaxed atmosphere is conversation inducing.  Sofyalı Sokak No. 7-7D, Beyoğlu; P: (0212) 249 8053
