This Weekend in Music

Talya Arditi / July 13, 2012

Most concert venues may be closed for the summer, but Istanbul’s music scene is still thriving thanks to all the festivals that are going on at the moment.

This weekend several big names are taking the stage in Istanbul for music-loving Istanbulites. Tonight, Erykah Badu takes the Cemil Topuzlu stage as part of the IKSV Jazz Festival. As the neo-soul singer entertains the crowd, world renowned Turkish pianist Fazıl Say will take the stage at Enka Kültür Sanat.

On Saturday night, the Sakıp Sabancı Museum will host three great jazz musicians: Swedish percussionist Magnus Östrom, jazz ensemble Next Ninety Miles Project, and acid jazz master Norwegian Bugge Wesseltoft and his friends Turkish saxophonist Ilhan Erşahin, Erik Truffaz, and Joaquin Claus. More details on this event can be found here.

More great concerts are coming up in the next few weeks. Keep following this space to stay up to date.
