The city’s gentrifying neighborhood of Reşitpaşa is slowly evolving, and Mittag is one of the coolest restaurants to emerge so far. After working at one of Istanbul’s most highly-lauded restaurants, Mikla, MSA-alumni Fatma Yıldırım decided to open up her own place and that’s how Mittag arrived on Istanbul’s scene to provide you with an amazing lunch.
In addition to the daily rotating menu, which they post on Instagram every day, Mittag has a great selection of elegant, revamped renditions of Turkish cuisine staples. Mücver, that iconic zucchini fritter, is backed like a quiche and served in a wedge - incredibly light, flavorful and brightened with fresh dill. Grilled halloumi adorns fresh arugula leaves, and mingles happily with caramelized pears and fruity olive oil. Among main dishes meatballs stuffed with spinach stand out. On Sundays, you can start the day with Mittag’s brunch, from 11am-2:30pm.
The modern touch on the menu is reflected on the interiors as well. In contrast with the overall image of the neighborhood, the restaurant features sleek furniture and decors and the open kitchen sparks awe before the food even arrives at the table. Mittag’s outdoor seating will provide the optimum setting for a peaceful lunch in nice, sunny weather.
