After bringing us restaurant and nightlife hotspot Münferit in Galatasaray, the founder has now decided to stake a claim in the ever-growing Karaköy neighborhood. This previously-run-down industrial port area is now teeming with art galleries, cafes, bars, and restaurants — Gaspar is right at home in this fashionable creative hub.
The two-floored venue, set inside a beautiful renovated neoclassical building (formerly a printing shop), has been designed by the well known duo Autoban. The interior is filled with wood, but with a very modern and stylish edge. There are multi-toned wooden panels throughout the spot, with smart velour and leather seating in varying natural shades of brown. The furniture is futuristic, giving the place its unique look. Upstairs, there is a lounge area whose windows are always open for those who want to spy on the crowd below in this popular art scene spot. Gaspar is a mix between a restaurant, lounge, and bar, spread on two floors. Its menu offers a selection of international dishes including fish, meats, and pasta, whilst the second floor can be used for private dining and business meetings.
After dinner a DJ gets going, playing music to get people dancing and the venue gets crowded with stylish night-lovers. The great selection of beers and cocktails from the full bar keep the energy flowing and the revellers can often be seen spilling out onto the street outside, with the loud beats of house music emanating from the party hub behind them. The stylish and spacious design allows enough room to dance the night away in comfort to the throbbing music, but make sure you book in advance to avoid joining the queue outside on weekend evenings. Gaspar is definitely a place to come, see, and be seen, and is especially busy during the colder months when Istanbulites do not have their favorite outdoor night spots available.
