Earth Market Şile
Earth Market’s Slow Food-compliant philosophy and the market’s mission to bridge the gap between the field and dinner table have gained popularity across Europe in recent years. Guaranteeing good, clean, and fair food, this approach builds a trusting relationship between producers and customers. According to Earth Market’s guidelines, products have to be produced using environmentally-friendly methods, thus sustaining the local food culture and standing up for agricultural biodiversity.
Encouraging its customers to buy no more and no less than what they really need, avoid waste, and protect the environment, Şile Earth Market currently offers a wide range of delicious local produce from over 57 villages, including tomatoes, peppers, hazelnuts, sourdough bread, beans, eggs, jams, balsam pears, tarhana, and vinegar. Events featuring prominent figures, such as Chef Maksut Aşkar, are also a common occurrence.
The market in Şile has yet to be approved by the Earth Market committee, but the process is ongoing and the final approval is believed to come through in October 2015 after an official visit by the board. For the meantime, however, you can visit the Earth Market in Foça.
