Aşşk Kahve (Aşk meaning love with an extra 'ş') is a small cafe with a large menu to chose from. There are 2 branches in Istanbul and this waterside branch in Kuruçeşme has a relaxed beach house feel and is popular with young couples, both local and visiting. There is a cute, cobbled terrace outside with tables weaved around a shady tree and looking directly out onto the Bosphorus. In the summer months the cooling breeze from the water and the gently swaying parasols offer the perfect spot to relax with a drink, a loved one and maybe something to eat too.
There is an extensive menu with everything from hot and cold sandwiches, to varying egg creations, organic salads and mains such as pasta, fish, and chicken dishes. If you have little ones with you there are children's options available too. Of course with it's great Bosphorus location Sunday brunch is a specialty here, alongside the traditional Turkish smorgasbord of breakfast items are a lighter offering of granola or fresh fruit pancakes. Delicious desserts such as the Aşşk-ı Memnu (mille feuille served with whipped cream & strawberries) are also incredibly difficult to resist.
The drinks menu is almost as comprehensive as it's food counterpart. Besides the extensive list of coffees and tea, there are homemade fruit lemonades, an innovative variety of ayrans and a selection of fruit infused lassi (Indian yogurt drink). The full bar and excellent cocktail list provide alcoholic accompaniments to an elegant evening meal, in a relaxing environment. In the summer Aşsk Kahve is a classic venue where you go to see and be seen, while also enjoying the water-front location either with friends over a cup of coffee or for a romantic evening meal with a refreshing martini cocktail.
