Marc Jacobs once said, “To me, clothing is a form of self-expression—there are hints about who you are in what you wear.” If you want to express yourself not through the collections of clothing chains but through unique and bespoke pieces, make your way to these stores where you will find designer clothing and accessories that will elevate your style.

Shopi go No. 17

Unless you avoid social media and have been living under a rock, you must have heard of Shopi Go's website, or their street-level store, Shopi go No.17. If you haven't, the time is now. From exclusive A.P.C. collaborations to gadgets like a scooter/backpack (it actually exists), this en vogue boutique will make you want to dream of a future where you have to dress up every day. Shopi go No.17, Mim Kemal Öke Caddesi No.17, Nişantaşı; T: (0212) 296 96 63

Shopi Go's new outlet, No: 62 is as much a delight as its first store. Along with a variety of streetwear labels, this store is loaded with famous international labels' assorted collections of gizmos and accessories that are essential for every guy. To top it off, the vibe from the architecture and close detail in the interior is something you must experience. Ahmet Fetgari Sokak No.62, Sisli; T: (0212) 296 96 61

For an exquisite selection of cufflinks, lapel pins, and bracelets, you need to look no further than Begum Khan. Along with Turkish heritage, the designs are heavily influenced by Ottoman art. With stores worldwide, you can find Khan's collection in Assouline, Beymen, Harvey Nichols, and Midnight Express. The collection is perfectly crafted for men with luxurious taste. Civan Istanbul

If you are looking for a more Turkish feeling, Civan is the place for you. Tucked away on the first floor of a cute little wooden house on a steep hill in Çukurcuma, this boutique is easy to miss, but definitely not-to-be-missed if you are into modern men’s fashion with a vintage touch. Shirts and trousers are displayed on a rack, where you can pick what you like and have it tailor-made for you. If you are looking for something even more unique, you can pick fabric, buttons, and thread for shirts and trousers and let the gifted people at Civan create a custom-made outfit. Çukurcuma Caddesi No.42, Beyoğlu; T: (0212) 243 32 11

Newly opened boutique Tru Project in Bebek sells the most basic item every man needs: t-shirts. Owner Aysu Akagündüz noticed how a lot of men (and women) were having trouble finding simple, basic, and clean tees with a good cut made from quality fabric, so she decided to start an online-only t-shirt label. It proved to be a success and now they have a brick and mortar store to visit and find the perfect tee. Küçük Bebek Caddesi No.11, Bebek; T: (0212) 287 77 40

Of course a t-shirt alone is not everything, so ParisTexas, located next to the Galata Tower, is great for people who are not necessarily looking for Turkish labels, but for fashionable menswear in general. There are both menswear and womenswear at this little boutique where Scandinavian labels like Samsøe & Samsøe, Acne, and Tiger of Sweden rule the walls. You can find everything here from trousers and jackets to tops and sweaters. Be sure to check out their wide range of accessories as well. Büyük Hendek Caddesi No.4/B, Beyoğlu; T: (0212) 252 61 51

Niyazi Erdoğan was one of the few, if not only, Turkish designers at Istanbul Fashion Week who exclusively designs for men. His creations are a bit more fancy than your average menswear boutique, but hey, at least you know you have something unique. He does not have his own boutique yet, but his creations are at the L’Appart PR showroom. Aziziye Palas No.20, Sisli; T: (0212) 240 34 57

Bey Karaköy A purveyor of simple, modern basics for men, Bey Karaköy stocks button-up shirts, sweaters, pants, and shoes, plus matching lifestyle accessories. With local labels ranging from Tox Atelier, Müz and Nyks to Happily Ever Paper, Niyo by Niyazi Erdoğan to Shoefill, Bey is not only a destination for shoppers seeking comfortable, affordable basics, but also a hub for emerging Turkish lifestyle and fashion labels that cater to the modern gentlemen of this bustling city. Mumhane Caddesi No.54/1 Karaköy; T: (0532) 700 59 55

If there is a store that personifies Urban culture, it is Apparel. Tucked away between several flashy stores, Apparel has no trouble standing out with its one-of-a-kind artistic and aesthetic approach to fashion. Its products are both practical and trendy, and the store is perfectly crafted for the modern, urban man. Ekrem Caddesi No.9, Beyoğlu; T: (0212) 270 65 16.

This list would be incomplete without Bilstore—Turkey's first lifestyle store concept. Even though it opened in late 2005, the idea was born much earlier by creator Bilsar, who is a leading producer and distributor of high-end and luxury labels. Its outlets can be found in Zorlu Center, Kanyon AVM, Akasya AVM, and Aqua Florya AVM. Here, you can find the finest clothing as well as a lavish array of lifestyle products.
