The Istanbul Uluslararası Opera Festival (Istanbul International Opera Festival) will be composed of five opera productions and one gala concert, performed by the Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, and Samsun state operas. On the international front, world renowned Argentine tenor Jose Cura will perform a Gala Concert at the beautiful Aya Irini on the 12th of July. On the 7th of July Mozart’s famous opera Don Giovanni will be performed by the Ankara State Opera at the Haliç Kongre Merkezi. On the 9-11th of July, the Ottoman inspired work of Mozart entitled The Abduction from the Seraglio will be performed at the Topkapı Palace by the Samsun State Opera. Another opera of a local persuasion, IV. Murat will also be performed at the Topkapı Palace on the 14th and 15th by the Izmir Sate Opera. On the 16th and 18th, the Istanbul State Opera will perform Antonio Vivaldi’s tale of the Ottoman sultan Yıldırım Bayezid at the Kadıköy Sürreya Opera House. Last but not least, the harrowing tale of forbidden love, Aşk-ı Memnu, will be brought to life by the Antalya State Opera on the 19th of July at Bahçeşehir Kültür Sanat Merkezi.
